Our Vision
To be a world leader in the creation and development of novel image-guided, minimally invasive therapy and surgery.

Our Mission

To generate and promote innovations and developments for commercial exploitation in Ontario, by creating a world leading commercial centre in Ontario in image-guided therapy and surgery.

OCITS or the Ontario Consortium for Image-guided Therapy and Surgery is a unique linkage of academic institutions and the private sector. Its mission is to develop new image guidance technologies for therapy and surgery applications in urology, oncology, neurosurgery and orthopedics. The Consortium is based at research institutions in London (Robarts Research Institute, London Regional Cancer Center), Toronto (University Health Network, Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Center and the Hospital for Sick Children) and Kingston (Queens University, Kingston Regional Cancer Centre) together with 23 private sector partners. The consortium will discover and develop key intellectual property, train and retain scientists and engineers and establish a collaborative network to develop opportunities for commercialization in Ontario.

OCITS will generate and promote innovations and developments for commercial exploitation in Ontario, creating a world leading commercial centre in Ontario in image-guided therapy and surgery.

We are establishing a new Institutional/ Private-Sector Partnership to create and develop image guided therapies and technologies that significantly impact on diagnosis, treatments and outcomes for patients in need of care in urology, oncology, neurosurgery, and orthopedic indications. This partnership of outstanding scientists, including physicists, engineers and clinicians in 7 institutions (1 University, 3 Research Institutes, 2 Regional Cancer Centres and 1 Hospital) and 23 private sector partners is driven by enormous commercial opportunity responding to urgent clinical needs. Our private sector partners will invest 16.1$M in this Consortium over the next 5 years.

Our team of internationally-acclaimed scientists possesses peer-reviewed group grant funding in excess of 7 $M/year and the economic viability of our discovery-based research has been recognized by venture capital investors and the private sector. OCITS is also supported by the Ontario government through the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund.
