Programs
OCITS projects can be categorized according to their initial medical application according to disease site. Therefore we present them according to major medical program areas: Urology, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Orthopedics. OCITS research programs and resulting IP for each program is described (with institutional/industry partnerships in parentheses) together with partnership opportunities with other OCITS programs.
Our R&D program is motivated by the goal of improving the planning, delivery, intra-treatment and post-treatment monitoring of therapy and surgery using innovative medical imaging technology. The intellectual property resulting from this effort and its commercialization have the potential to establish Ontario as a world leader in this emerging new field of health-care technology. A consortium of start-up, growing and larger Ontario companies together with critical multi-national partners participation has been established. This partnership will result in significant economic benefits for Ontario including high-technology positions for our graduates in start-up and growing Ontario companies, the establishment of growing Ontario research and development divisions of major multinationals and the continuing growth of our established Ontario industrial partners.
